Webster Industries Switches to CNC Cutting Machines to Further Enhance Operations
Webster Industries, a leader in the engineered class chain, sprockets, and vibrating equipment markets, is always searching for ways to increase quality and efficiency within its operations. The company recognized its reliance on traditional technology — like shears, cut plates, and plasma hand-cutting — may have been holding it back from optimal production. The answer to this challenge? CNC cutting systems from AKS.
Making the Switch from Traditional Methods to CNC Cutting
Relying on shears, cut plates, and plasma hand-cutting produced quality parts for Webster Industries, but didn’t allow for optimal productivity. Plus, hand-cutting can produce minor variances in the final part, which results in more time spent on post-processing. With CNC cutting technology, the company could enhance efficiency and produce even tighter tolerances within its finished parts. That’s where AKS Cutting Systems came in.
We provided two machines to Webster Industries — the first being our accu-kut model. Armed with Hypertherm XPR300, this CNC plasma-cutting machine is perfect for keeping up with the company’s heavy parts. Additionally, it’s reliable enough to operate successfully for years in harsh environments. The speed and accuracy of this machine are beneficial to Webster Industries, as it expedites the fabrication of one-off components. Additionally, it creates tight-tolerance components, which reduces time spent on post-processing.
Webster Industries also needed a machine that could cut many parts out of one plate. That’s where the dura-kut came in. This machine, equipped with two IHT Fit3+ oxy-fuel torches, operates in a “set it and forget it” capacity. The operator simply presses “Go” and walks away while the machine runs, freeing the operator up to do other tasks.
The Result? Enhanced Productivity and Accuracy
The investment in AKS Cutting Systems equipment greatly improved productivity and accuracy within Webster Industries’ facilities. Not only did it significantly reduce processing time, but the better initial cut quality reduced downstream post-processing as well.
We’re happy that we could help Webster Industries find a solution to fit its needs. But, our support didn’t stop there. Webster Industries also makes use of our customer service systems if help is needed. Our service department has been able to quickly respond to service issues, resolving problems with accuracy. Overall, the implementation of CNC cutting technology helped Webster Industries improve operations and enhance its capacity to serve even more customers.
