Cleveland Tank and Supply’s Problem

Cleveland Tank and Supply is a renowned manufacturer of diesel fuel and hydraulic oil tanks. The company relies heavily on AKS plasma-cutting machine solutions to cut the main shells and end caps for their tanks. Since 2009, the Cleveland Tank and Supply team has used the AKS accu-kut because of its durability and precise results. In fact, the company doubled down on its reliance on AKS machinery in 2018, buying another accu-kut to keep up with demand. However, all machines start to show their age at some point. In 2023, the older model was in need of a retrofit. That’s when Scott Krankowski, service manager at AKS, stepped in.

The 2009 model of the accu-kut was still functioning well, but the Cleveland Tank and Supply team was concerned about the computer system. The original table’s control system ran on Windows XP. As the technology aged, it became increasingly difficult to find replacement parts. Instead of waiting for the machine to experience issues, the Cleveland Tank and Supply team decided to be proactive and update the system.

The Solution: Quick Service from the AKS Team

Scott Krankowski quickly responded to the customer’s request, using his 18 years of experience to come up with a cost-effective solution. After looking over the entire table, Scott recommended a complete retrofit. Instead of running on aging Windows XP technology, the system would be upgraded to Windows 10, which was much more reliable. With this recommendation, the AKS team could build a new gearbox in the shop and cut downtime on the machine. Instead of two to three weeks of downtime, the machine was out of commission for just a couple of days. All in all, the retrofit took less than a week to complete, minimizing production delays.

Scott is always there to help Cleveland Tank and Supply with large issues. But he’s also there for the small problems, too. As mentioned above, Scott has almost two decades of experience with AKS machines, allowing him to solve many queries over the phone. Often, Cleveland Tank and Supply will call with minor cutting issues or torch height control problems, and Scott walks them through the solution over the phone. Scott noted that he can help the company fix 90% of cases remotely. But for more complex repairs, Scott will personally visit the site to provide a fix.
