AKS Cutting Systems, a subsidiary of Kiffer Industries, today announced that Greg Mayfield, AKS Service Manager, and 27-year AKS employee, will retire effective June 15, 2020. Mayfield’s duties are re-assigned by the promotion of two current AKS employees: Scott Krankowski as Technical Service Manger and Dustin Weaver as Customer Service Manager.
Greg Mayfield has been with AKS Cutting Systems for 27 years, starting in 1993, originally hired as an electrician. Since then, Greg has accepted increasingly responsible positions, including Senior Service Technician for many years and most of his career, and for the last 3 years, Greg has served as AKS Service Manager.
Greg has been a valuable and loyal partner to thousands of AKS customers. Till his last day, AKS customers will always be thankful for Greg’s capabilities and guidance. Greg’s personal involvement and achievement with so many customers, has put his performance and career on a pedestal, far exceeding most customers’ expectations.
Greg has certainly had a distinguished and fulfilling career. He grew up in a small town near Youngstown, OH, and was the second youngest of eight siblings. Growing up, he liked athletics, and played three sports in high school, including winning an Ohio state high school football championship. He started his professional career in the late 70’s, working first in the steel industry in Lorain, OH, and later in electronics at TMP and Barth Industries, both in Cleveland, OH. He married in 1980 to his wife Karin, and this year will celebrate their 40th anniversary. His son, Chris, was born in 1985, and is continuing Greg’s legacy, as Chris currently also works at AKS Cutting Systems, also as a Service Technician.
Greg’s plans for retirement will definitely include his buddy, 9-year old grandson, Noah. He and Noah love to go fishing together while enjoying his cottage on Catawba Island and relaxing on his boat in Lake Erie. Greg will surely continue to practice his love of doing anything and everything with his hands, building and re-building, and woodworking in his basement. He will faithfully follow his Cleveland sports teams, bleeding orange & brown, while sharing his love for The Ohio State University Buckeye sports teams too.

Dear AKS Cutting Systems Valued Customers and Friends:
The recent events to hit our nation are unprecedented. The Covid-19 pandemic has stressed our nation’s systems in healthcare, finance, manufacturing, education, and just about every facet of our daily lives.
AKS Cutting Systems has been diligent about following new safety protocols and precautions in our office and factory, including all of our personnel, both factory-based and field travelers. On March 22, the Governor of Ohio, Mike DeWine, issued a “Stay-at-Home” order, effective March 23 through April 6, in which all non-essential businesses must close and employees stay home.
AKS Cutting Systems provides “manufacturing, distribution and supply chain products for critical production involving waste collection, agriculture, energy, and the tech support industries,” as described in paragraph 12(v) of the Governor’s Order. Therefore, AKS, and its parent company Kiffer Industries, are an Essential Business and Operation and will remain open and continue business operations, while still practicing the social distancing requirements and other precautions as described in paragraph 15 & 18.
AKS is committed to supporting our customers and supporting our nation’s critical manufacturing industry segment. For over 100 years, since 1912, our company has been “Made-in-the-USA” and is proud to continue to support our nation and its citizens. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thank you.
Sincerely,
